My Process
The first step was to create a model of the logo in 3d. Thankfully this was easy since Modo can import eps files from Adobe Illustrator. The above image shows what it looks like after it's been imported into the scene. Not a lot of depth but, not to worry we'll do that next.
Selecting the edge loop for each letter and extrude, easy peasy.
I'm glazing over a bit here, but next step is to apply materials to the logo and background then set up the camera and lighting.
There were a few test renders, but this more or less is how the final render turned out. 
The great thing about doing this in with 3d software like Modo is that it's easy to add a bit of animation!
